Just a few weeks back in May one of the cities where we have based our biggest multilingual operations center (Sofia, Bulgaria) was struck by a powerful earthquake during the night. A lot of people spent the rest of the night outside and many businesses worked at a lower capacity due to workers being afraid to go their offices.
We are proud that all of our staff was working the next morning. We have invested a lot of time and effort in finding the best possible business building for our Sofia Multilingual Operations Center that has a very high level of natural disasters security procedures and measures. By investing in such a safe environment we have made sure that both our employees and our business can withstand external challenges that are out of our control and can easily ruin a less prepared company.
Companies often ignore the damaging effect a natural disaster can have on their daily operations and employees. Having a comprehensive business continuity plan plays a key role into having a predictable and effective response to unexpected natural disasters.
The process in creating a realistic business continuity plan starts with the four key elements – assess the potential risks, establish a business strategy in case of emergency, prepare procedures and implement a step-by-step response plan.
Those key elements should address the main groups that are affected by natural disasters – your employees, the community and the government in the country you are operating your business.
We are always working with all three groups – government agencies, the community of companies that work with and around us and all our employees that depend on those procedures as a guarantee for their safety. We work with several government agencies to ensure compliance with regulations and the proper conduct of occupational health and safety trainings.
Driven by our pursuit of building a safe environment for our team members and the community we are part of we have developed, implemented and certified a Quality management system and an Information Security Management system in conformity with the international standards ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 27001:2005.
Keep in mind that having a safe office space is only part of the equation. Turning your office space in a productive and inspiring environment is one of the hardest challenges businesses face today.
When we are looking for a new office building one of our main priorities is making sure that there is enough space for modern leisure areas that really affects the overall happiness and performance of our team members.
In our experience there are a lot of elements of the office that can improve the overall feeling and productivity – colorful and organized working space, good lighting more open spaces.
In our opinion investing in a safe and productive working space is one of the most important parts of building a successful business that actually adds value to both its employees and clients.
Please let us know how you have changed your office area in a more inspiring and productive way!
